What’s The Difference Between Retinoids and Retinol?
Retinoids are a class of Vitamin A derivatives that travel deep into the skin layers to stimulate cell turnover, and make the skin grow thicker and more elastic.
Over-the-counter retinoids undergo one or more conversions within the skin to become retinoic acid, which is the compound that creates the desired changes. Our
5 Benefits of Using Retinol
Retinoids, such as retinol and retinaldehyde (aka “retinal”):

How Effective Is Retinol For Wrinkles?
Retinoids reduce fine lines and wrinkles by stimulating cell turnover and increasing collagen production, effectively minimizing fine lines & wrinkles, firming skin, and reversing sun damage from the inside out rather than the outside in.

“This is the first retinol product *in my entire life* that I have been able to use without irritation. Zero irritation. None. And yet, even after just a few uses, I have results. Smaller pores. Less redness and blotchiness,” says Biossance customer Alison. “The (pretty) texture I had in my 20’s, restored to me 2 decades later. I am in shock. I love every product I have ever received from Biossance, but this one is truly groundbreaking.”
How To Use Retinol
- Start slowly. Twice weekly use is a great start, then gradually increase to every night.
- Make sure your skin is completely dry before using retinol. Using retinol on damp skin can make it penetrate too deeply and potentially cause irritation.
- Only apply a pea-sized amount.
Follow with your favorite moisturizer, and for an extra boost of hydration, try mixing in a drop or two of Squalane + Vitamin C Rose Oil.
- Be sure to apply sunscreen every morning, but be especially diligent on mornings after using retinol.
